It’s another carryover year for Toyota’s hybrid wagon.
The biggest member of the Prius family offers buyers parsimonious fuel economy that nearly matches the standard hybrid hatchback, but with much more passenger and cargo room. The tall body offers rear-seat riders excellent leg and headroom, and its long, wide cargo bay is larger than most compact crossovers.
Powering the Prius v is the same 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine and Hybrid Synergy Drive setup as the standard Prius. With multiple driving modes including an EV-only mode, it delivers excellent fuel economy if babied. However, given the fact that it hauls an additional 230 lbs of glass and metal about, it’s not especially quick. Impressively, the Prius v can be fitted with high-end technology and active safety features including radar cruise control, LED headlamps, and a self-parking function.
Standard features include 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, CD/MP3 stereo with 6.1-inch display, auxiliary input, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, rearview camera, cloth seats, driver’s side height adjustment, 60/40 split-folding sliding and reclining rear seat, proximity key with push-button start, auto up/down windows, exterior temperature gauge, Eco Drive Monitor with multi-information display, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio and climate controls, floor mats, cargo cover, cargo net, cruise control, digital clock, illuminated entry, front and rear splash guards, rear bumper protector, rear spoiler, heated mirrors, variable intermittent wipers, intermittent rear washer/wiper, LED taillights.
The Luxury Package adds synthetic leather-wrapped steering wheel, navigation system, SofTex synthetic leather upholstery, heated seats, satellite radio, garage door opener, resin panoramic sunroof, smart key system, auto-dimming rearview mirror and front footwell lighting.
The Touring Package builds on the Luxury Package and adds 17-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, fog lamps, and automatic auto-leveling LED headlamps with washers.
The Touring + Technology Package further adds a 7.0-inch display screen with navigation, eight-speaker JBL sound system, pre-collision system, dynamic radar cruise control and intelligent parking assist.

This could cause various warnings to appear on the instrument panel and cause the hybrid system to shut down. If this happens, there can be a loss of power to the wheels.
Safety Risk:
A loss of power to the wheels could create the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Toyota will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the hybrid system.

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection. The passenger seat occupant classification system (OCS) may have been calibrated incorrectly during the manufacturing process. This could result in the non-deployment of an airbag, which would increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant in a crash where airbag deployment is warranted. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the occupant classification system (OCS).
